Poetry & Social Justice

Poets have always sought to address social, personal, and political challenge, upheaval, trauma, change. But how exactly do we practice writing poetry as witnesses of our own time and of our own lives in context? We will read and write poetry with Fordham students that seeks to bear witness in a wide range of forms and to an array of social/personal contexts.

We Cultivate Thoughtful Literary Citizenship

Our Student Fellows:

  • Write think pieces on American poetry and poetics.

  • Manage and execute public event offerings and marketing and publicity campaigns.

Poetry is not only dream and vision;
it is the skeleton architecture of our lives.
It lays the foundations for a future of change....
